Ackermann staircase Fürst-Trakt walk-way
Andechs Monastery has always been a place for meeting and orientation. With the renovation of the Monastery’s Fürstentrakt or Princely or Royal Apartments between 1986 and 1992, cultural life on the Holy Mountain Andechs began to unfold. These representative spaces offer stylish environments for musical and literary events as well as for meetings, congresses, seminars, lectures and receptions.

The goal of the restoration work of recent years was to preserve the extant historic substance of the property and to restore the areas which had fallen prey to time, and authentically preserving Andechs Monastery’s more than 500-year old history, allowing it to be actively perceived. Thus the rooms of the Fürstentrakt, today’s area for meetings, reflect the magnificence of yesteryears. The guests’ area of the Monastery is a place of peace and meditation and is now, as ever, modestly equipped and outfitted.

The Florian-Stadl, a former hay-loft and pig-sty, was converted for use as a venue for larger gatherings; and, in the former horse stables, the unusual historical aura has been retained. The complex is slowly being converted to a cultural center and for use as a festival theater for the Carl Orff Festival. Its rustic ambience and outstanding acoustics, a most impressive architectural feat in itself, lends itself well as a platform for a wide series of musical events.
