Within the Monastery’s walls and in the Fürstentrakt, as well as in the church one gets a good impression of the stucco work of the Bavarian Baroque and Rococo era in the 17th and 18th century.

From the simple square stucco of the early Baroque Era to the Wessobrunn stucco work from the high baroque era and the lighter stucco of the rococo era the development of the single steps and differences between can be seen.

As this series of stucco work is completed by the highly developed rococo stucco, which is exclusively found in the church, one could even speak of a stucco museum on the Holy Mountain.
Dealing with modern art is traditionally ranked high at Andechs Monastery. Since 2002 Andechs Monastery has staged annually the symposium “Art and Beer”. This symposium is organised in close cooperation with the local authorities of Andechs and the Georg Zentgraf Foundation.

Invitations to tender for the symposium are placed across Germany by the Georg Zentgraf Foundation. The selection committee then chooses several artists among the applicants. These artist are invited to Andechs Monastery where they are offered an ideal framework for creating works of art that are connected with the theme ”Art and Beer”. So far, the artists used wood, metal and glass as materials for their work.

The last symposium took place on the Holy Mount in August 2008.
