The Klostergasthof

The traditional Klostergasthof, which is older than the monastery itself, has been mentioned as a ducal tavern restaurant in documents for the first time in 1438. In the middle of the 15th century Duke Albrecht III. makes a gift of the “upper inn” to the newly founded Benedictine Monastery in Andechs. In 1992 the Andechs Monastery started with the renovation of the Klostergasthof by maintaining its historic structure. Among the traditional lounges of the Klostergasthof are: the “Kamin-Stüberl”, the “Kloster-Stüberl”, the “Hedwig-Stüberl” and the “Marien-Stüberl”; in addition, there is also a “Theatersaal”, a theater hall. The “Florians-Stüberl”, the “Laurentius-Stüberl” and the “Orff-Stüberl” have been newly added in the process of the renovation work.
